7 Weeks

My mom and I took Trevor to get his pictures taken at the mall on Saturday. He didn't like it and cried. But we still got some cute pictures of him.

We were going for a cowboy theme, but the buckaroo wasn't having it ;)
The pictures in his blessing outfit, he looks like an old man, like a temple worker.

This is my favorite, he looks like he is thinking "Lady, squeeze that duck all you want, I am not amused!"
I need some advice ladies. How do you have enough milk to pump to save and to feed? I feed him and then 30 minutes later I will pump to save it. Then he wants to eat again and I have nothing because I pumped it, so then I have to give him what I just pumped. I am getting frustrated. Should I supplement with formula so I can get some breast milk saved?

Awww, what a sweetie!!! The first two are so-so, but that third picture is pretty much awesome! He has changed so much! I think he's looking more like Brynn in these pictures. I have no advice for you, sis. Good luck with that! He's a growing boy!

Brynn,

I know you don't know me very well, but I had problems with my first baby with the same thing. I started to supplement early on because I had to go back to work and I had problems pumping (I would pump for 45 minutes and get 1 oz) it was frustrating. But by the 4th month of supplementing he decided he only wanted the bottle. Then I felt bad. It sucked. I have been told (not sure because this baby refuses to take a bottle) that your body will produce as much as your baby needs as long as your body is getting what it needs (nutrients and such). Have you been doing this routine long? If not then maybe keep it up because it does take your body a little while to get it. Also, do the routine daily (I don't know if you are or not) that might help. Sorry I don't have better advice. If you have a good relationship with your doctor you could call him or her and ask them (if you don't get any good advice that is). And if you don't want me to comment any more on your site please please please let me know. Your baby is adorable. I can't believe how much he looks like Chad.

Cute pics!

By all means, don't supplement with formula. It will decrease your milk supply and could possibly cause more problems.

You could pump on one side while you nurse on the other side. It takes a little bit of work to rig that up but it works.

You could also pump immediately after he nurses to increase your milk supply. Your body will get used to making more milk.

Brynn,
Its me again. I understand about the bottle/nursing issue. I felt like such a bad mother when Kaysen decided he didn't want to breastfeed anymore. I felt like I had failed my son. Then I talked to his doctor and she said that at least he got some good from me, rather it was 4 months or 2 years, some is better than none. And now, he is 2 1/2 and he is a healthy little boy, he hardly ever gets sick and it all worked out. Just hang in there, don't get too stressed (because that doesn't help milk supply either) and do what you can do. If that means giving him a bottle every once in awhile, DO IT!!! It will all work out.
Thanks for the post on my blog and tell Chad hello for me.

I can't believe how much hair he has! I LOVE IT!! If we could only read their minds and know what they are thinking when we do the silly things we do.

I wish I could give some good advice for nursing, but I didn't do so well at it. Heather is definately the queen of that.

I love his pictures what a cutie boy! And the temple worker picture made me laugh out loud only you would say something like that and I thought it was funny. I nursed both my babes and I always pumped while nursing on the side I wasn't nursing my kids on. I always got plenty another thing I would do is nurse before they got up in the morning before I would head to work and I could always get way more that way and usually they had enough for the 6 hours I would be gone. Hope that helps a little!
