Salt Lake City Marathon 2012

I started training for the full marathon in November of last year.  I made it to my 14 mile long run and then my knees started acting up, so I got some cortisone shots in them and felt better.  But I decided to do the half marathon instead, not to risk more injury to my knees.  Then about 6 weeks away from the marathon I hurt my left foot.  I thought I just pulled something so I rested and iced my foot for a couple weeks, but it wasn't getting any better.  So I went to see the foot doctor and found out I had 2 stress fractures and wouldn't be running for 8 weeks.  I was doing the marathon as part of the Huntsman Hometown Heroes again, which meant I had raised $500 for them and had a spot held for me.  Dr. Kimball stepped up and decided to run it for me.  So to show our support the kids and I headed out at 6 am on Saturday to get a spot along the route to cheer him on. It was great weather for the race and we had fun cheering on all the runners.  I think once my foot heals I will stick to only trying to run a half marathon instead of a full.
